Hello, and welcome to my writing website. This is the place that I have chosen to host my short stories and other writing works, facebook and other social networking sites are just not good enough for it.
I am a writer by strange coincidence. I didn't begin my writing 'career-' a term that I use loosely as I have never technically been published by a publishing company nor have I been paid for my work, though it is a possibility that I hold in high regard- until later on in my life.
Anyway, back to my writing history. I hated writing and english class all throughout school, I dreaded reading the long drawn out books for english class and even worse actually having to write about them. However, regardless of that loathing, I was a good writer as it turned out- I got 11 out of 12 on the writing portion of my SAT. I now realize that I didn't actually hate writing, I just hated the subject that I was forced to write about.
Fast forward a few years and I find myself in college, where writing is pretty well pushed no matter where I go. I was in an english class in my second semester and for one of our final projects we were presented with a few options and writing reared its always quirky head, a sort of siren call in my life. We were studying Shakespear's Othello and had to do a final project regarding the literary aspects of the play. One of the options was to rewrite that play as a murder mystery, and to my dismay, it was the only option that appealed to me- it was the easiest to do, requiring little work in reality. Long story short, I wrote my first short story; the project called for 5 or so pages, I went in with 20 pages after it was formatted.
Now, granted, it was not my best work, I procrastinated with it and rushed it- it will be posted for all to read in its original form with only a few horrid grammatical changes made - but it did open my eyes to something very significant in my life. I AM a writer! At the finish of that semester, I sat down, for the first time excited to write, and began a novel. I figured if 5 pages turned that quickly into 20- and I still feel that that story could be expanded so much further- a novel would probably be easy- that was a devious term for it.
I thus began work on Hands Of The Ignorant, a political novel. It was a big eye opener, and I learned a lot from the writing experience, but it sparked a creativity within me that I didn't know I had. I am now starting my second novel and have ideas for at least a third one, possibly even a fourth. I also now have a small collection of short stories on many subjects, from personal experience all the way to a satire of Black Friday.
Writing is one of the most entertaining arts, it is imaginative, it is moving, it is real. Writing can take a person ANYWHERE, and can produce a more inclusive effect than even most movies in my opinion, hearing yourself tell a story is so much more powerful than watching it on screen- not that I'm dogging on movies, I love the summer blockbuster hits just as much as the next guy, or gal!
So, that is the history of my writing 'career,' the pages at the top lead to the places that they claim to, they are not elusive. I am still learning the intricacies of this site and thus this will be a continuous work in progress for me. Don't be afraid to check back often and see if anything is new, and if there is nothing new, just yell at me to get it done!
Thanks, I hope you all enjoy it.
